all quiet …

Sunday, April 29th, 2001

sorry about the lack of updates, I’d only have bored you silly.

I’ve been spending the weekend working on a Dreamweaver extension, playing with CSS (Drew bought me Cascading Style Sheets – the definitive guide), and working on a new section for this site on the various web development type things I am playing with right now in order to stop this blog becoming a list of reasons why my stylesheet is broken!

Maybe I’ll get that online later today… watch this space…

First day

Friday, April 27th, 2001

Today the Small Person started nursery school. Today was a day i had never envisaged, perhaps mostly because I could never imagine her big enough to be going to nursery but also because I had planned to home educate her.

Things change. She was so excited as we waited outside with the other children. She remembered the routine from the two days that we visited better than I did, found her coat hook, and was about to run off into the nursery without so much as a backwards glance,

“Bye Bethany, have a good day” I yelled after her, she turned and grinned, waved and then joined the group of other children as if she had been there every day of her life.

I went on my way to work, stopping to peek through the window of the nursery building, I saw her confident and happy looking tiny next to some of the other children and yet so grown up and sure of herself. Just then I realised that I haven’t failed her by not home educating her, there will always be things I wish I could have done, but she is growing up to be a cheerful, confident little person and however we go on from here thats the most important thing.

has anyone actually ever died of boredom?

Thursday, April 26th, 2001

Last night my childminder asked me who she should contact if anything happened to me, I didn’t show up to get the small person.. whatever..

It occured to me this morning that the most likely thing to happen to me is death by boredom. I seem to do the same thing, all day, everyday … there’s not a lot you can do to make accountancy practice websites interesting.

Thanks to Plasticbag for pointing me in the direction of Seethru which contains such delights as 10 commandments for net newbies. Lots of entertaining reading there.

The quest continues

Tuesday, April 24th, 2001

I was cheered up late this afternoon by these more appropriate windows messages.

I must try and figure out why these pages shift up slightly in NS6 and Konqueror, I thought I had implemented a fix but that worked fine in IE5.01 but went screwy in IE5.5, ah well, its such a small thing. There must be a way round it.

I have been far more amused than I should be by the people who have been dumped at my upgrade page for having a cruddy browser … I love server logs… *grin*
