why?

Thursday, May 31st, 2001

I was just reading through the BBC news and came across this article. Why the hell is cannabis still illegal for medicinal use? As far as I am concerned there is little reason for it to be illegal for any use, as it is certainly no more harmful that alcohol and cigarettes, but when it has so many proven symptom relieving benefits to sufferers of illness such as MS and AIDS related illnesses why is it not freely available to them, even as a prescription drug. Why should sufferers of severe illness have to sneak round and break the law to get some respite?

Sorry about the outage

Wednesday, May 30th, 2001

Fasthosts was down entirely today, so this site and my email was down. Apologies if you were trying and failing to get here.

I am still not sure exactly what the problem was and things are very slow at present. Hopefully normal service will be resumed very soon.

we seem to be back

Wednesday, May 30th, 2001

I still have no idea why Fasthosts left me without email or site for nearly two days but it has been back for the last two hours so hopefully it is going to stay back this time. My email seems to be slowly filtering through in a fairly random order so if you have emailed me in the last couple of days and not got an answer… please resend.

I have to go back to work tomorrow. I don’t really want to. I am looking to direct my energies into something more interesting and exciting… if you have any ideas get in touch.

More goodies

Tuesday, May 29th, 2001

I have got the latest in my series of Dreamweaver extensions relating to Web Standards and inspired by The Web Standards Project, completed.
This one gives Dreamweaver users a quick way to add a message to their pages, viewable only to those with old browsers, which explains why the site looks shonky to them.

It has been submitted to the Macromedia Exchange so I wait to see if it will be approved and added to the Exchange. In the meantime you can download it from my Dreamweaver page, any problems with it let me know.

Sunday…

Sunday, May 27th, 2001

…passed uneventfully. Church was dull, dull and dreary in its middle-of-the-road-lets-not-upset-anyone Church of England way.

I miss being around Christians who aren’t afraid to say what they think, I miss heated discussion on tiny points of the liturgy late at night, over a bottle of wine with intelligent people.

I miss the Anglo-Catholic worship, I miss the silence and the candles, the stillness and sense of worship. I miss having one place that I can become quiet in myself…
… but the Small Person has taken to middle class, middle of the road niceness like a duck to water, so there we stay.
